Ingredients

  • 1 pound thick cut bacon
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir until evenly mixed.
  • Arrange the thick cut bacon strips on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they don't overlap.
  • Generously sprinkle the sugar and spice mixture over each bacon strip. Gently pat the mixture into the bacon to help it adhere.
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the bacon reaches your preferred level of crispiness and the sugar has caramelized to a golden brown.
  • Carefully transfer the hot bacon to a wire cooling rack to prevent sticking. Let cool for 2-3 minutes.
  • Drizzle the warm bacon with maple syrup just before serving.
